USNS John Glenn Passes Acceptance Trials

USNS JOHN GLENN AT SEA TRIALS

The US Navy’s Mobile Landing Platform, USNS John Glenn, passed Acceptance Trials, which took place off the coast of San Diego on February 7.

 

The trials and tests were conducted off the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co. (NASSCO) shipyard by the Navy’s Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV).

USNS John Glenn was christened on February 1st at NASSCO shipyard.

The MLP vessels are envisaged to provide a “pier at sea” that will become the core of the Navy/Marine Corps sea basing concept. This capability will allow prepositioning ships to offload equipment and supplies to the MLP for transshipment to shore by other vessels.
