STANDARD MISSILE 3
Raytheon Company has signed a contract with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency for the procurement of Standard Missile-3 (SM-3) Block IB guided missiles.
The SM-3 is a ship-based missile, currently used by the US Navy to intercept short to intermediate-range ballistic missiles and dismantle incoming ballistic missile threats. The missile is sometimes described as a “bullet that hits a bullet.”
The USD 156 million-worth work will be performed in Tucson, Ariz., and Huntsville, Ala. through September 2016.
